Michael Lock - An Expert Witness
Approach
Michael undertakes expert reports for the Court across a range of presenting issues. He is trained and experienced as a Single Joint Expert, so accepting joint requests from both claimant's and defendant's solicitors.
Like other such Experts, Michael's duty is clearly to the Court and to the facts of the case. He undertakes his assessment using a range of properly validated and reliable measures. Current literature and research help form his opinion.
Michael is selective in the assignments he undertakes, accepting between 30 and 40 per year. His resulting reports are detailed, comprehensive and fully appendixed.
Members of the public who are interested in using Michael in this capacity should always discuss the matter with their solicitor first. The solicitor will help them make a judgement about the appropriateness of involving Michael.
Michael is always happy to discuss a case with a solicitor to determine whether it falls within his sphere of interest and expertise. If not, he is often in a position to recommend a colleague who might be able to help.

Where an employee feels their employer has not fulfilled their duty of care.
- Post-Traumatic Stress
Where catastrophic or traumatic event, experienced whilst undertaking one's job, has had impact on ability to continue working in that capacity.
- Road Traffic Accident
Where injury obtained has undermined cognitive and personal ability to function within work or school.
- General Learning Difficulties
Where lack of intellectual ability has caused the person to respond to police questioning in an inaccurate and misleading way.
- Dyslexia/ Specific Learning Difficulties
Where the person alleged discrimination or failure of those in authority to fulfil their duty of care.
