Children and parents

Many parents and schools ask for our help in order to gain some insight into a child's difficulties in learning. Quite often a standard student assessment will involve a one-to-one meeting with Michael Lock which will last for about 1 ¾ hours. He will need the accompanying Parent and School Questionnaires completing before the assessment in order to provide a rounded backcloth. These can also offer direction about how the assessment should proceed. For students aged 14 and above it is also recommended that they complete the Student Questionnaire, which can be found in the Further and Higher Education section of this web site.

At the end of that 1 ¾ hours of assessment, Michael is usually in a position to offer an initial debriefing. This is then followed by a comprehensive report which arrives several weeks later. Obviously, more complex situations may need deeper involvement from Michael, but fees can easily be adjusted to take account of the additional time that will be necessary.

It is understood that it is sometimes necessary to change an appointment. We appreciate as much notice as possible as no charge is made if reasonable notice is given. Similarly it is occasionally necessary for us to change an appointment although every effort is made to avoid this. Should the need arise, as much notice as possible will be given and a rearranged appointment made at the earliest convenience.
